VANCOUVER – Low-income urban singles and families will have greater access to affordable housing with the official opening of a 23-unit development on Jackson Avenue and Cordova Street thanks to help from residents and funding from the Government of Canada, Province of B.C. and City of Vancouver.
MASSET – Seniors and adults with disabilities in Masset now have access to four new affordable homes with the opening of the Nick Grosse assisted living development.
KELOWNA – The Province is investing $22.7 million for two supportive housing developments that will help break the cycle of homelessness in the City of Kelowna and create 226 jobs, announced Housing and Social Development Minister Rich Coleman.
BURNABY – Women and children leaving transition homes will have access to nine new units of second stage housing once construction is complete thanks to $3.88 million in funding from federal, provincial, municipal and community partners to the Marguerite Dixon Transition Society.
FORT ST. JOHN – The Province is providing $65,000 in funding for the Fort St. John Friendship Society to run the Aboriginal Homeless Outreach Program in Fort St. John, announced Housing and Social Development Minister Rich Coleman.
VICTORIA – A partially-finished apartment building will become affordable rental housing for Victoria residents, thanks to the Province and City of Victoria providing over $9.5 million towards its purchase and completion.
KAMLOOPS – Aboriginal students, singles and families will have access to 19 new units of affordable housing at a $6.2-million development that officially broke ground today with the help of provincial and community partners, announced Claude Richmond, MLA for Kamloops.
BAYNES LAKE – Eight new modular housing units for seniors and persons with disabilities will be created in Baynes Lake, announced East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett.
VICTORIA – Up to 50 new modular housing units for seniors and persons with disabilities will be created in 100 Mile House, Keremeos, Lillooet, Logan Lake and Golden.
LAKE COUNTRY – Twelve new modular housing units for seniors and persons with disabilities will be created in Lake Country, announced Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Al Horning.
