Wells Gray Provincial Park remains closed to public

KAMLOOPS – Members of the public are reminded that a full closure of Wells Gray Provincial Park has been in place since July 9, 2017, and will remain in effect until the public is advised otherwise.

Access to the park has been restricted for reasons of public safety, due to the extreme fire risk in the region and to support evacuation operations if necessary, since Wells Gray Provincial Park is only accessible by one road.

The BC Wildfire Service is fighting multiple interface fires throughout the province. This step was necessary to help support those efforts.

British Columbians and visitors are urged to follow the instructions of BC Parks staff, BC Wildfire Service officials and other authorized personnel in the area, including conservation officers.

For more information about the closure of Wells Gray Provincial Park, please visit the BC Parks website: www.bcparks.ca
