PROVINCIAL COURT GETS NEW ASSOCIATE CHIEF JUDGE

 


VICTORIA British Columbia provincial court has a new associate chief judge.

 

Judge Ellen M. Burdett, former administrative judge for the coast region, has been appointed to the post. She has been a provincial court judge since 1993 and has also served as a Crown counsel and an assistant professor at the University of British Columbia's law faculty. She began practising law in 1981.

 

As associate chief judge, Burdett's initial duties assigned to her by the chief judge will include responsibilities in the areas of family and civil jurisdiction, planning, and judicial resources. Her appointment is for three years.
