VICTORIA Ė Jim Mutter has been appointed the new president of the Premierís Technology Council.
Mutter is a co-founder and former vice-president, business development of jaalaM Technologies, a Vancouver-based network intelligence software company. As a key member of jaalaMís senior management team, he helped lead the company from inception through product commercialization to completion of one of the largest initial rounds of venture financing for a Canadian technology company in 2002. He was previously a partner at Fasken Martineau, where he helped establish one of the largest technology practice groups in Vancouver.
Mutter currently serves on the board of the Vancouver Enterprise Forum and is a former board member of the B.C. Technology Industries Association. He has a bachelor of business administration from the University of Prince Edward Island and a bachelor of laws from the University of Calgary.
The Premierís Technology Council was appointed in August 2001 to inform the premier on all technology-related issues and advise government on how to make B.C. a global magnet for high-tech investment, growth and job creation.
