VICTORIA – A three-year agreement has been reached for electrical workers at British Columbia Transmission Corporation, Finance Minister Carole Taylor announced today.
“I would like to thank all of the negotiators for their dedication to reaching an agreement that is both fair and affordable,” said Taylor. “The flexibility of the negotiating framework allowed us to develop an agreement that meets their unique needs.”
This agreement covers approximately 98 electrical workers represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union and employed with the B.C. Transmission Corporation. The electrical workers operate British Columbia’s high-voltage electricity grid.
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers members will vote on ratification over the next few weeks.
“It is important to remember that although most public sector agreements were successfully completed last year, negotiators are still hard at work at the bargaining table today,” said Taylor. “There are several agreements remaining before the negotiating framework concludes, and I know all parties are committed to reaching fair and affordable contracts.”
To date, 163 agreements have been reached under the Province’s negotiating framework. Seven contracts that have yet to expire, covering approximately 6,883 employees, must still be negotiated.
