VICTORIA – An agreement has been reached for British Columbia’s Crown prosecutors, Finance Minister Carole Taylor announced today.
“I would like to congratulate all of the negotiators for their dedication to reach an agreement that is both fair and affordable,” said Taylor. “Crown counsel are an essential part of B.C.’s criminal justice system, representing the interests of all British Columbians each and every day.”
The B.C. Crown Counsel Association (BCCCA) represents some 420 Crown prosecutors in about 44 offices throughout British Columbia. In addition, approximately 210 lawyers across government are covered by the agreement negotiated for the BCCCA.
BCCCA members will vote on ratification over the next two weeks.
To date, 164 agreements have been reached under the Province’s negotiating framework. Six contracts that have yet to expire, covering approximately 6,253 employees, must still be negotiated.
