BC PAVILION SUPPORT STAFF REACH AGREEMENT

VICTORIA – An agreement has been reached on a four-year contract with support staff at BC Pavilion Corporation, Finance Minister Carole Taylor announced today.

“We congratulate the negotiators on both sides of the table who worked so hard to reach this agreement,” said Taylor. “This agreement ensures that BC Pavilion Corporation will continue to be an important part of the province’s entertainment and trade exhibit network, bringing events and spectators together and providing economic benefits for British Columbia.”

The agreement covers 250 workers represented by the BC Government and Service Employees Union. These employees include security personnel, housekeeping staff and technicians.

The BCGEU members will vote on ratification this week.

A total of 165 agreements covering approximately 98 per cent of public sector employees have been reached under the Province’s negotiating framework. Three contracts that have yet to expire, covering approximately 6,000 employees, must still be negotiated. These remaining contracts expire between May 2007 and March 2009.
