VICTORIA – Two lucky British Columbians have been chosen to each win a pair of tickets to the 2010 Winter Games, announced Healthy Living and Sport Minister Mary Polak.
For taking part in the World Healthy Living Challenge, Garth Buhr from Abbotsford will receive a pair of tickets for the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, while Victoria’s Joanne Posthumus will get two tickets for another 2010 Winter Games event.
“The Province is thrilled to reward these winners for their commitment to lead healthier lifestyles and we’re happy to provide them with the chance of a lifetime to see the 2010 Winter Games in person,” said Polak. “Through the World Healthy Living Challenge, we want people to realize that even small changes to their daily lifestyle can help them improve their personal health.”
Other winners from this draw include: Burnaby’s Bob Harris, who won a one-year pass to a local recreation centre; and North Vancouver’s Samantha Sullivan, who won a digital camera.
“I took the Healthy Living Pledge because I wanted to commit to making healthier choices in my life and for my family,” said Buhr. “In exchange for pledging to exercise three times a week, encouraging my family to exercise and eating healthier, winning tickets to experience the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games is an unexpected reward.”
New winners will be chosen in the last week of each month leading up to the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games. In total, 24 pairs of 2010 tickets and many other prizes will be awarded in the next year to British Columbians who take the World Healthy Living Challenge.
