VICTORIA – Two British
Columbians have each won a pair of tickets to the 2010 Winter Games and five
more have won other healthy living prizes for pledging to make healthy changes
to their daily lifestyle, announced Healthy Living and Sport Minister Mary
Polak.
For taking part in the World Healthy Living Challenge,
Erin Stewart from Duncan and Terrace’s Nikki Good both have won two tickets to
the 2010 Winter Games.
“In less than two months, over 700 British Columbians
have already signed up for the World Healthy Living Challenge and have
committed to making just three small changes to lead a healthier lifestyle,”
said Polak. “For pledging to make these healthy changes, all the Challenge
participants, including these seven lucky winners, will see countless benefits
to their health and in their daily lives.”
Other winners from the March monthly draw include:
Catherine Ablett from Prince George, who won three months of personal training;
Campbell River’s Leslie MacLennan, who won a dietician consultation; Deena
Farrell from Houston, who won a digital camera; West Vancouver’s Larry Harper,
who won a one-year pass to a local recreation centre; and Clifford Marr from
Vancouver, who won an ActNow BC prize pack.
“In
the World Healthy Living Challenge, I pledged to buy only local produce, to use
only reusable bags for purchases and to walk to appointments instead of
driving,” said Good. “Winning tickets to the 2010 Winter Games is a wonderful
and unexpected reward, and one that will surely help drive me to remain
committed to my healthy living goals.”
New
winners will be chosen in the last week of each month leading up to the opening
ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games. In total, 24 pairs of 2010 tickets and
many other prizes will be awarded in the next year to British Columbians who
take the World Healthy Living Challenge.
