Highway 1 on-ramp, off-ramp closures at East 1st Avenue

VANCOUVER – Drivers are advised to plan for a temporary ramp closure on Highway 1 while the City of Vancouver completes street upgrades on East 1st Avenue.

To support the city’s work, the Highway 1 westbound on‑ramp and off‑ramp as well as the eastbound on‑ramp at East 1st Avenue will be closed from 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2026, until 9 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026. During this time, no right or left turns to or from the ramps will be permitted from East 1st Avenue. East 1st Avenue is scheduled to reopen late Monday, April 6, 2026.

Drivers travelling westbound or eastbound on Highway 1 are advised to use alternative access points, including Boundary Road, the Cassiar Connector via Hastings Street, or McGill Street, and should plan for additional travel time.

During the closure, drivers are reminded to slow down, follow posted signage and obey traffic-control personnel. Extra travel time should be anticipated throughout the closure period.
